Sunday 08/03/26 - My First Ever Blog Post

Time: 23:34pm

Hello!

This is probably going to be a bit awkward at first while I get used to it. I’m not used to typing out my journal entries, but hopefully my experiences with physical journalling will make this a little easier. Either way, I am still very excited to finally have my own blog! 😁 I have wanted to blog for sooooo long but I was always too intimidated by the process of creating my own website. Before now, I had never coded anything before and had always considered myself to be pretty technologically inept. Despite this, I love journalling, writing, documenting my life, and having creative projects that I can feel proud of, so blogging seemed like the perfect next step for me! 🩷

My plan for this blog is to write entries on Sundays where I reflect on the past week and share my hopes for the next week that is soon to come! So here that is for this first week…

My weekly Recap for 02/03/26 – 08/03/26:

This week was my mid-semester break, so I spent it home from university 🥳 I got to visit one of my best friends from secondary school at her university during the beginning of the week, which I was very grateful to have been able to have done. It was really nice to see her again and I had a lot of fun 😄 When I eventually got home, I met up with a couple other friends from school and college throughout the week too.

When I first started university, I was worried that I would lose all my friends from school and college, but honestly, I feel even closer to them now! 🩷 As much as I can really hate my phone sometimes due to how much time I waste staring at it, I do appreciate how it lets me keep in contact with all my friends. I would still really like a ‘dumbphone’ though, and I am likely going to try to have a ‘no phone summer’ this year. My favourite ‘dumbphones’ are the T-mobile Sidekick, the CAT S22 Flip and the LG Rumor. I would really like to collect old phones like these, even though most of them do not actually work anymore.

Apart from the time spent with friends, I sort of wasted my mid-semester week if I’m being completely honest 🥲 I told myself before the week started that I was going to do sooooo much uni work and get so ahead on all my group projects and my revision….. I didn’t even start 😅 I love being home from uni, seeing my friends, family and pets, getting to use my own shower and sleep in my own bed, having an infinite amount of snacks to eat, the list goes on and on. BUT, being home from uni does really seem to mess up my routines and leave me feeling quite disconnected and overwhelmed 😣 There’s a freedom with the independence I have at uni that gets taken away when I’m back at home, and it just makes me lack the order and organisation I require to get stuff done. I was clearly feeling a bit lost while at home, because I answered lots of identity related journal prompts. I especially enjoyed the ‘describe your ideal day’ prompt, which, for me, included lots of time spent outside, seeing my friends and family, following my usual routines, journalling and listening to my favourite songs and eating my favourite foods. The activity made me realise the things in my life that I value the most 🙂 I might try to live a sort of ‘ideal day’ one day this week, using what I wrote as a very loose guide. I wonder if it will be an enjoyable experience, or if putting too much pressure on myself to have fun will instead cause the opposite, which it often seems to do for me.

The main focus of this week for me really was creating this website! 😃 I have a tendency to pick up new hobbies, get really obsessed with them for a bit, and then drop them after the initial excitement wears off. I’m getting better at turning fleeting interests into more long-term projects and habits, and I am feeling very hopeful that my little website will stay important to me for a long time 🌟

I do foresee a reality where I become overwhelmed by my own self-imposed deadlines and abandon my site entirely because opening it up to see all the out-dated text fills me with too much guilt to continue on. The cure to this therefore is to not be too hard on myself! This blog is supposed to be fun, and if I miss a week, I miss a week! 🩷

Goals for next week:

🟪 Have an ‘ideal day’ on Friday where I do all my favourite things and am motivated solely by fun.

☑️ Continue to improve my website and write at least one more blog post!

✔️ Probably actually do some work for my group projects or something I don’t know.

That’s all for this week! Thank you for reading :)

Love from,
